Save, Steal Or Splurge – A Denim Shirt Is A Wardrobe Essential

We love our denim.

Cathy Donohue

Although it’s easy to make a habit of shopping based on ‘what’s in’, this isn’t always a good idea.

Buying according to trends can incur debts pretty quickly and just because a piece is fashion forward doesn’t mean it will suit all body shapes.

Investment pieces in contrast, actually stand the test of time.

Each week we aim to introduce a new piece for your wardrobe and provide three options from where to buy, catering for all budgets.

Save – €35 at Oasis

This short-sleeved shirt is a pretty take on the classic denim shirt. Wear it tucked into a floral skirt and add suede ankle boots for a festival friendly look or wear it open over your a maxi dress for a laid-back chilled out look. Denim is great for layering so mix and match it with different fabrics for the cooler months.

Steal – €45 at River Island

This denim shirt is a classic shade and will get you out of many the style pickle. Pair it with any print or pattern, it’s a classic cover-up which never ever dates. River Island has plenty of trend led items but it also covers basics and this shirt is a must-have item. We will race you to it!

Splurge – Seven for all Mankind, €250 at Harvey Nichols

This one is considerably more expensive but like the saying goes, you get what you pay for. It fits like a dream and the materials used to make this shirt are of the highest quality. The fact is this won’t fade or lose shape after a couple of washes but one from the high-street might. If you invest in a classic well-made denim shirt, you’re likely to have it forever.
