Save, Steal Or Splurge – A Little White Dress

We're loving this Topshop beauty.

Cathy Donohue

Although it’s easy to make a habit of shopping based on ‘what’s in’, this isn’t always a good idea.

Buying according to trends can incur debts pretty quickly and just because a piece is fashion forward doesn’t mean it will suit all body shapes.

Investment pieces in contrast, actually stand the test of time.

Each week we aim to introduce a new piece for your wardrobe and provide three options from where to buy, catering for all budgets.

Save, €35 at Dorothy Perkins

Broderie anglaise, a type of embroidery, is very pretty and often features on skirts, shorts and dresses. This adorable dress from Dorothy Perkins featuring the girly print is perfect for spring summer. While white looks amazing with a tan, this is still a cute summer dress even if you’re living in Mullingar, not Marbella.

Steal, £65 (€80) at Topshop

This dress from Sister Jane at Topshop is a bit more expensive but it’s a shift dress designed for a special occasion, rather than a day dress you can wear to the beach. The cut of this piece is lovely and the embellisment is the perfect finishing touch. This is the ideal little white dress for summer and it’s firmly on our wishlists this season.

Splurge, Caroline Kilkenny June Panel Dress, €290 at The Kilkenny Shop

The hero piece of this week, this is one white dress you will have in your wardrobe for years to come. A classic shape, with clean lines and the perfect cut. Clever panel detailing ensures a flattering fit and although you might be spending a little more than usual, the cost per wear over time means you definitely get value for money.
