Save, Steal Or Splurge: The Timeless Tan Bag

An essential wardrobe piece.

Cathy Donohue

Although it’s easy to make a habit of shopping based on ‘what’s in’, this isn’t always a good idea.

Buying according to trends can incur debts pretty quickly and just because a piece is fashion forward doesn’t mean it will suit all body shapes.

Purchasing investment pieces is the way to go as these will stand the test of time.

Each week we hope to introduce a new piece for your wardrobe and provide three options where you can pick them up, catering for all budgets.

A tan bag is a style essential, it doesn’t date which is awesome as the older it gets the better it looks.

Steal – €26 at Dorothy Perkins

This tan cross-body bag will prove a favourite, simply because it can be matched with so much. It’s an ideal festival accessory because it’s the perfect size and tan is stylish, sturdy and practical. It’s not overly expensive either as bringing a designer piece to an outdoor gig is a little risky.

Save – €45 at River Island

This one is sure be snapped up quickly considering how similar it is to a Michael Kors Bennet bag. A designer lookalike piece for a fraction of the price tag is music to our ears. This is a good size that will fit all your day-to-day pieces and the gold detailing is super luxurious.

Splurge – €890, Marni, at Brown Thomas

Yes, this is a three figure price tag and definitely over the allocated bag budget. That said, we are allowed to dream and swoon at the designer pieces that are on the market. This is a lighter colour than the other bags featured but it is just fabulous, a Marni piece will last you a lifetime and if you use the ‘cost-per-wear’ analysis, it might just pay for itself (eventually).
