Scandi Christmas magic: Ikea reveals this year's holiday season collection
It's still a while to go (15 weeks to be exact).
But that doesn't mean we can't start to get a teeny, tiny excited about it already.
Because not only has studies actually proven that people who decorate for the holidays early are actually happier than those who wait until it's actually December (hah!), but also, we were recently invited to have a sneak peak at Ikea's upcoming holiday season collection – and true to form, it is nothing short of magical.
Poetically named 'Winter Holiday' the collection will will be available from Ikea stores in October, and is inspired by Scandinavian heritage design, conscious materials and modern ways of of celebrating and bringing people together.
Fresh reds, blues and neutrals (think winter white) is the collection's common theme, and I am loving the joyful, bold designs and patterns, many of them inspired by traditional Scandinavian patterns and designs.
The Vinterfest tableware is simple and beautiful, and feels like the kinds of pieces you'll bring out for many, many Christmases to come, and I am absolutely planning on snapping up the matching Vinterfest table cloth – made from 100 percent more sustainable cotton.
And how adorable is this LED napkin holder that kind of reminds us of snop-capped peaks a la Elsa?
And how perfect is this storage jar for all your Christmas goodies?
And don't worry – if baking isn't quite your thing, and you instead prefer to cut some corners, don't forget to pick up one of the Vintersaga gingerbread house – sort of like a blank canvas for you to create your own (edible!) Winter wonderland masterpiece - oh, and one for the kids to assemble too of course. So now that the the cleaning time just shrunk, let the quality time grow.
In Scandinavia, people have advent wreaths in every window, and this Stråla pendant lamp feels just like that, and will make every window in your home glow with Christmas cheer.
I must also admit, I love that Ikea has turned Christmas red again. Proper, old fashioned Scandi Christmas red. It reminds me of my Christmases as a child back home. Of decorating the tree. Of icy cold walk in snow. Of cozying up inside. Of being together, and being warm and feeling like there was no other place in the world i would rather be.
