Seven Ways To Sort Your Summer Wardrobe And Never Have Another ‘Nothing To Wear’ Moment

The sun WILL come out tomorrow!

If you’re anything like us, you have just about gotten the hang of dressing for winter by the time that the summer season comes around.

Worry not! Powered by Lucozade Energy, we have some great tips that will help you make the transition between seasons and avoid those all too common wardrobe meltdowns.

1) Declutter

It’s impossible to make the most of your wardrobe when you can’t even see half your clothes. While the Irish climate means that you can’t abandon all of those winter staples, the heavy duty clothing can definitely go into storage. Vacuum-packed bags are great for this as they’ll keep your clothes fresh and can be popped under the bed out of your way.

2) Organise

Put your heavier clothes on one side of the wardrobe and lighter items to the other to make it easy to find what you are looking for in the morning. Dividing by colour and print can also help you plan what to wear and identify where the gaps are in your collection.

3) Invest wisely

Just as you would buy a coat and some knitwear for winter, it is worth treating yourself to some summer clothes. The key here is to buy hard-working pieces that will work across different occasions. A crisp white shirt will look great with a printed skirt for work, while an unusual kimono can add a touch of style to a pair of jeans for an evening BBQ. We also have a weakness for vintage-inspired print dresses, as seen here on the ever-stylish Taylor Swift.

4) Brighten up

Nothing says summer like bright colours so say goodbye to blacks, greys and dark shades in favour of whites, pastels and vibrant hues. It’s easy to get stuck in a style rut and go for fail-safe options so push yourself outside your comfort zone by popping into a department store, picking some items in colours you never normally wear and trying them on for size. You might be surprised by the results!

5) Accessorize

A few small details can transform an outfit so swap your black tights for transparent and your boots for sandals to turn that boring winter outfit into something summer-worthy. Add a cool hat, chiffon scarf or some beaded jewellery to your favourite LBD and you’re ready for any occasion.

6) Pile it up

It may be summer but you’re not in Spain so while that light silk dress may be the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen, you’ll most likely end up with draughts in the wrong places if you attempt to wear it like the model in the photo. However, that does not mean that you have to miss out, as teaming lighter items with leggings, a cardi or a cropped jacket can make them a little bit more suitable for our ever-changing weather.

7) Go wild

The summer is the best time to let your inner fashionista run wild so if you’ve been dying to try out some leopard print, tackle the neon trend or invest in a playsuit, go for it! Our top tip?
