Last year, Forbes Magazine named Sara Blakely, as the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire... you go sister! How did she make her money? Spanx.
In 1998, Sara found herself in a predicament, she could not find a suitable pair of knickers to go under her tight white trousers and was forced to cut the feet out of a pair of control tights... And Spanx were created.

Women of all ages, shapes and sizes over the globe fit in to clothing now, that before Spanx, would probably have been slightly impossible. Which is why it is no great surprise that Sara made it on to the 2012 Time magazines, 100 most influential people in the world.
It’s not just us that want to say thank you, here are some celebrities that are huge Spanx fans too.
Spanx you, Oprah.

Oprah Winfrey is some woman for one woman, and we all are eternally grateful to her for endorsing Sara Blakeley’s company on her chat show when she was starting out back in 2000. From women everywhere, Spanx you.
“I was tripled Spanxed!”
Octavia Spencer spoke to Ellen about her how she prepares for the red carpet, “shoes and Span.” The Oscar Award winner tells how wonderful Spanx are as they give, “the illusion of an hour-glass with the sand spread out.” Brilliant!
"I took a couple pairs off when I sang."

Adele confessed last year that she loves Spanx so much so she wore three or four pairs to the 2012 Grammy Awards. However, the singer did have to take a couple of pairs off before she graced the stage to sing, understandably.
Spanx jokes...
Since 2000 there have been many jokes made at the Spanx wearers expense. This clip of Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy from their latest comedy film, The Heat is definitely our favourite.
“Greatest invention ever.”
We all have our insecurities, and for Kim Kardashian, her thighs are the biggest. That is why the reality television star calls Spanx, “the greatest invention ever.” We completely agree.
"Even if you're a skinny girl, Spanx are a must."

Kelly Osbourne of E! Fashion Police knows what she is talking about. In an interview she explained why Spanx are a must for every woman, "Nobody wants to see your belly button through your dress."
The ultimate Spanx-ident.
An accident in Spanx (Spanxident) can happen easily, especially if you’re Melissa Mc Carthy. Words cannot describe how funny this clip is.
They’re an investment...

Joan Collins once wrote in the Daily Mail: "Invest in an all-in-one Spanx-type undergarment. This deceptively simple structure is a masterpiece, wrapping around the diaphragm and waist, holding in all those wobbly bits yet showing off your sexy curves." So it’s safe to say you like them then Joan, yes?!
Man Spanx.
As if we needed another reason to love Tom Hanks any more than we already do. Fast forward the clip to 1.45 to hear Tom discuss man Spanx with Julia Roberts.
So to all the ladies heading out tonight, wear your Spanx with pride. And if you do double up, try to avoid any Spanxidents by regularly checking that your skirt or jeans aren't at your knees.
