H&M’s latest bridal collection features some stunning (and affordable) dresses

So expensive looking.

Anna O'Rourke

The idea of a high street wedding dress might may not sit 100 per cent right with you – but wait until you see these.

Blame it on girly movies and back-to-back episodes of Say Yes To The Dress but we’ve all kind of been socialised to want the bridal boutique experience, complete with the moment when you exclaim “this is the one!” and shed a tear at your own reflection.

If you can get past that fantasy (be strong) many of our favourite mainstream clothing brands have some pretty gorgeous options for brides-to-be.

Going down this more affordable route doesn’t have to mean compromising on style either.

Take H&M’s latest bridal collection.

The Scandinavian retailer always brings a pretty but minimalist sensibility to everything it does and these dresses fit right in with that vibe.

They’re all fairly simple but super dreamy and, crucially, affordable.

This year’s offering includes a stunning bardot lace bodice and tulle skirt number (above) for €159 and a beautiful satin ballerina-length gown (below) for just €59.99.

Our favourite dress they have though is the ultra-modern cream one with a flared skirt.

It’s just right for brides who aren’t keen on fuss or frills or who’d maybe like to let their accessories do the talking.

At €219, it’s the dearest of the collection but is also definitely the most expensive-looking.

Going by reviews, this runs a little on the large size in terms of sizing but for something that you’ll probably end up having altered that’s probably no bad thing.

H&M has also brought back its popular lace sleeve dress as part of this collection.

This gown (€159) earned drew lots of comparisons with Kate Middleton’s iconic Alexander McQueen wedding dress when it first launched as part of H&M’s bridal collection last year.

The dresses are all exclusively available online from H&M.
