Swot Up On Style – A-Z Of All Things Fashion

You could study style for years, and still have scope to learn more. It’s an interesting topic that doesn’t always get the love it deserves, with some dismissing it as frivolous. We wear clothes everyday (although a duvet day now and then is compulsory), and wearing something you love can often change your mood. In homage to the dynasty that is style, this A-Z guide will bring you a little insider information on one of our favourite subjects, this week concentrating on all things W. W Magazine Monthly American fashion magazine W was created in 1972 by James Daly, the publisher of W's sister magazine Women's Wear Daily. Stefano Tonchi is the editor of W and Lucy Kriz is the vice president and publisher. W is known for its high fashion covers featuring celebrities with dramatic make-up and haute couture clothes. The below cover featuring Kate Hudson wearing dramatic make-up is one such example. Wes Gordon  Wes Gordon was born in Illinois, Chicago and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. The grace and romance of the South inspired him and he developed a keen interest in high fashion. Central Saint Martin’s University of Art and Design in London was his college of choice, allowing him to combine fashion with fine art. Wes interned with both Oscar de la Renta and Tom Ford, teaching him the art of familiarising himself with the woman he is dressing. Whistles Clothing brand Whistles was founded in the early 1980s by Lucille and Richard Lewin. Former Topshop director, Jane Shepherdson, signed a deal in 2008 to purchase 20% stake in Whistles. She was then appointed chief executive of the brand. The autumn winter collection this year is truly gorgeous, combining functional pieces with timeless luxury.
