The g Hotel is giving away €12K over the Galway Races festival

The biggest style event of the year.

Summer is always a very stylish season in Ireland, from Pinterest perfect weddings to multiple race meetings.

Of course, if you’re looking for a chance to get your glad rags on and glam up with the best of them, Ladies Day at the Galway Races is the only place to be.

As a Galway girl, I’m pretty biased when it comes to Ireland’s best ‘day out’, but it has to be said that the week-long festival in the City of Tribes has a great reputation countrywide.

This year, the g Hotel returns to sponsor two of the most anticipated style showdowns around: ‘the g Hotel Best Dressed Lady’ and ‘the g Hotel Best Hat’.

The judges for this year’s competition have just been announced and it’s no surprise to see that Aoibhín Garrihy is on the panel.

The former Fair City actress won the hearts of the nation during her stint on Dancing with the Stars Ireland and only last week, her Instagram followers were freaking out over one of her outfits, a yellow River Island suit.

Oh and this gorgeous Karen Millen number, which recently landed in Arnotts.

Aoibhín will be joined by Baz Ashmawy, General Manger of the Triona Barrett and fashion favourite, Bairbre Power.

Of course, the big draw is the prizes, worth €12,000 in total, €10,000 for the g Hotel Best Dressed lady and a €2,000 prize for the g Hotel Best Hat.

The exact details of said prizes are currently being finalised but having contacted those behind the scenes, we’re told that we can expect “total luxury”.

Ladies Day kicks off early on Thursday 3rd August with gates opening at 11 am and the style spotting starts as early as 11:30.

“Originality, flair, and poise” will be rewarded and twenty finalists will be selected to gather at the Hotel Best Dressed Marquee and meet each of the judges in person.

In case you needed reminding, see below for the stunning looks that won ‘Best Dressed Lady’ (Lisa McGowan) and ‘Best Hat’ (Ciara Murphy) at last year’s festival.

Something tells us Ladies Day 2017 will be one to remember, time to start prepping!
