The one thing sales assistants look for when people return items

We've made this mistake before.

Cathy Donohue

This makes a lot of sense.

The pesky ties, often referred to as hanger ties or ribbons, that hang out of tops, dresses, jumpers etc are seriously annoying but you’ll be interested to know that they actually serve a purpose

We tend to cut them off the second we wear a new item but little did we know they serve a purpose.

Chatting to Who What Wear, a sales assistant revealed the inside information and said that if these have been removed, returns are often refused.

Although you might cut them off when you try a new item on and later decide that you want to return an item because you’re not happy, this can suggest you’ve worn the piece already.

We’ve done this a number of times before and although, we didn’t have any problems with the item that meant returning it, imagine how annoying it would be if you did!

So there you go, make sure you keep those hanger ribbons intact if you’re not sure about a specific piece.
