Would you wear it?
When it comes to engagement rings, there’s a huge amount of choice as we’ve previously chatted about, here and here.
However, there is one trend that’s become very popular this year but it’s one we’re not entirely convinced by, yet anyway.
Linked engagement rings.
The design was dreamed up by jewellery designer Spinelli Kilcollin and the inspiration came about when he created rings for himself and his wife, Dwyer.
Chatting to Brides, the Los Angeles-based designer said:
“The symbolic power of the linked rings is incredibly strong. Perhaps it took getting married ourselves to figure out how to manifest that symbolism into a collection of rings for others”.
However, while these designs are seriously cool and effortlessly stylish, they’re not a trend that everyone will agree with and Spinelli recognises this.
In a previous conversation with The Jewellery Editor, Spinelli said that linked rings wouldn’t be for everyone and the modern take on engagement rings won’t suit all tastes.
“Our rings are definitely not going to be for traditional couples. We were getting far more requests than we expected for this type of ring”.
As mentioned previously, the rings were originally meant as a unique design for him and his wife but they got so many questions asking for similar looks, that a wedding collection seemed to be the way forward.
However, they have no intention of replacing the “traditional ring”.
