Three Zara summer dresses we want in our wardrobes for when the world reopens

Leslie Ann Horgan

We’ve definitely been enjoying the sartorial freedom that lockdown has offered.

Gone are our boring office clothes and in their place comfy lounge wear and the occasional cheering splash of colour. Shoes and bras are (mostly) optional, and we haven’t picked up a handbag in lord knows how long.

On the flip side, we’ve been missing the opportunity to get dressed up and put on something that is fit to be seen in public… Not that that’s much of an option at present. The grass is always greener etc.

With the arrival of summer comes the excuse to add a few new items to our wardrobe, and a new challenge for dressing: finding a mid point between the comfy clothes we’ve gotten used to over the past couple of months and outfits that actually make us look and feel good.

Thankfully, summer dresses are the perfect solution. Pretty and on trend, but at the same time loose-fitting and easy to wear, they will look just as at home in the back garden as they will on the town once the lockdown restrictions are opened up.

As always, it’s Zara to the rescue – our favourite shopping destination has loads of flowing new options available for online ordering.

Here are three of our favourites…

Blue printed dress, €49.95

This floral print full-length dress has a V-neck, cute tie above a keyhole at the bust and delicate adjustable straps that cross at the back.

Floral print dress €49.95

A loose-fitting dress with ruffles on the sleeves and across the bust, and with a thigh slit. This has great dress-up, dress-down potential for further down the line.

Midi dress with buttons, €49.95

This button-fastened dress has short puffed sleeves and a smocked section at the back. The bright red would look good on everyone, but especially those ladies with paler skin tones who haven’t gotten a summer tan quite yet.
