There are so many silly style rules that are worth breaking... here are a few that in the past would have counted as a fashion faux-pas.
Until now, mixing different prints in the one outfit was a style rule not to be messed with! To make this look work in your wardrobe, pull your outfit together by making sure your prints have similar or complementary colour schemes.

The trend for patterned trouser suits really went stellar this season and is set to still be on the fashion radar for spring/summer. Work a sleek look by teaming a tailored print blazer with matching tailored trousers. Pick up on a colour in the print and wear a top in this tone underneath to break up a busy print.
In the past we were always told not to mix your metals but since the trend for armfuls of bracelets this rule has been thrown out. And the good news is this is the best way to make the most of your jewellery collection. Granted brash yellow gold doesn’t always play well with others so instead wear rose gold and silver pieces together as they are much more complementary.

While wearing metallics during the day might have once been considered a fashion faux pas, right now rocking your sequin bits during daylight will make you look bang-on-trend. An oversized metallic clutch looks chic paired with a casual outfit like dark indigo skinnies, a stripey tee and a chunky cardigan. While a brocade skirt can be dressed down with a slim knit to create an elegant everyday look.
The denim-on-denim trend is a tricky one because when you get it right it can look really cool but you definitely don’t want to cross over into rodeo territory. Make this look work by teaming a lighter coloured chambray shirt with dark denim jeans, alternatively go for coloured or printed denim instead.
