Ikea autumn winter 2021

It may only be August, but if you are already longing for candles, dark evenings and cosy nights in, you are in luck – because IKEA is bringing us all the autumnal vibes with their latest collection.

Last year, IKEA  announced their decision to move away from seasonal trends, saying goodbye to the temporary and welcoming longevity with sustainable choice, so this season, the Swedish furniture giant is focusing on the small ways we can adapt and change our homes by investing in quality products that stand the test of time.

“Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at IKEA, and we want to show how easy it can be to build on what you already have with small, simple, affordable and eco-friendly updates, explains Rosheen Forbes, Commercial Activities and Events Leader at IKEA UK & Ireland.

“The first of our AW21 transitions, Global Influences, caters to the shift in post-pandemic travel which is set to continue through the autumn/winter period. Homewares will play a profound role in transporting us to faraway destinations as we seek escapism from the everyday; with a desire to welcome a blend of different cultures into our home and create an inviting ambience.”

“When it comes to upgrading furniture, wooden colour palettes such as walnut, oak and mahogany provide a sense of depth and stability. ThSTOCKHOLM leaf-shaped nest of tables emulates a natural feeling, with the distinctive grain pattern in its walnut veneer giving each table a unique character. Complement with the sturdy EKENÄSET armchair and the MÅNALG wall lamp, which allows light to subtly seep through its entwined structure.”

“Inspiration for soft furnishings can be taken from Morocco, Turkey and Spain. Contrasting materials embody comfort, with the BRUNSTARR cushion cover’s bold design and irregular geometric print embracing the beauty of imperfection.”

“The new and affordable HÖSTKVÄLL collection – meaning ‘autumn evening’ in Swedish – bridges the seasonal period between summer and winter and welcomes nature indoors. Drape the chunky burnt orange throw over your sofa for a quick and effective update, pairing with the leaf-patterned cushion cover to create a warm, autumnal atmosphere.”

“Set the mood with the VINDTUNNEL trio of brown and white glass candle jars, inspired by the patterns found in a Moroccan Souk. The delicate scents will make any room feel homely and safe, as you drift off into dreamland.”

“Introduce stoneware, clay and glass, which have influences from destinations across the globe. Adding these simple and decorative touches to a sideboard or coffee table will create a contemporary feel with a rustic edge. Store small items and trinkets in the intricate porcelain ENTUSIASM bowls, with the sculptured CHILIFRUKT vase doubling up as a watering can or jug.”

“Dried flowers such as the artistic HÖSTKVÄLL bouquet are an easy and eco-friendly solution to welcome a touch of nature during the cooler months. Pair with the KLYFTA basket, handmade from sustainable, woven bamboo to make a stylish centrepiece in any living space.”
