We already gave you the heads up on the Shutterbug kilo sale and if you are planning to pop in tomorrow but feeling a little flummoxed as to how to nab the coolest threads then read on.
Dress the part. Well sorta – it’s actually better to wear something that you can slip on and off with minimum fuss or alternatively if there’s a long queue for the fitting room you’ll want to be able to try pieces on over what you’re already wearing.
Be vigilant. Double-check that none of the buttons are missing and the zips are working properly on any pieces you pick up. This may seem like a no-brainer but in the flurry of excitement at having found a fashion hit you might forget. It’s only then when you get home you’ll discover that an irreplacable button is missing or a zip is faulty.
Now this next one is a little bit eww but important none the less, don’t forget to check sweat stains. If they’re there now don’t cod yourself that you’ll magically be able to get them out, it’s better to just walk away.
Look at the soles of any shoes you have your eye on as more often than not, a heel tip will be missing. Check the leather around the buckle and strap for signs of wear and tear because if a leather strap is cracked it may break off easily.
And don’t be tempted by garments that need loads of alteration work. Changing a strap length, taking an item in or shortening the hem are all reasonable but if the piece needs to be effectively remade then it’s not worth it and will cost a fortune.
Don't be a slave to sizing. If there is a size label it’s safe to say you can ignore it, instead you’re best bet is to try it on. If you like it on the hanger, then chances are you will like it on you, but equally don’t shy away from trying on something different as sometimes a hanger can’t convey an item’s true potential.
Happy shopping!
