Trade Secrets – Sneak Peek Into A Stylish Wardrobe

We're crushing on this lady's style.

Cathy Donohue

We’ve all had that moment where you see someone on the street and think, “Oh, I love her bag/top/skirt.”

Some can work up the courage to ask a stranger where they shop, but not all of us are that brave.

This gave us an idea for a feature and we’re hoping to hunt down the country’s most stylish women to quiz them on their favourite fashion finds and style tips.

Next on our style crush list is Roísín Moloney, Fashion PR and stylist.

Roísín gave us the down-low on her style essentials below…

My style icons are Eleonora Carisi, Miroslava Duma, Daria Werbowy, Olivia Palermo, Alexa Chung, Kate Bosworth, Taylor Tomasi Hill, Nicole Richie and many off duty models. Although, to be honest I think pretty much every fashion editor and stylist in the world has epic style.

I would describe my style as an amalgamation of minimalist, edgy feminine chic with a twist.

If money was no object, I’d have to invest in a Balmain leather jacket and trousers too. Oh and the obligatory Chanel black quilted leather handbag of course, it would be rude not to!

Chanel Bag

For spring summer 2014, I’m loving co-ord sets, bright summer coats, anything neoprene, ripped jeans, denim dungarees and 50’s midi-skirts.

I have to say I am a summer girl when it comes to fashion. I love nothing more than ditching my skinny jeans and baring my legs in pretty dresses/skirts and giving it that edgy twist by teaming them with chunky ankle boots and my Karen Millen classic black leather jacket.

I do a little creative DIY from time to time. Not one to shy away from something a little different, I love adding my own little stamp to any of my apparel/accessory purchases. Being equally as much a music lover as a fashion one, my latest creative DIY project was to spruce up my new Bombata laptop case that I picked up in Avoca with a new Fender guitar strap…. now onto the next one.

My favourite item at the moment is a pink satin 50’s midi skirt from Coast. You can see it in the picture below, that’s me on the far left. I wore it recently for my friend’s wedding.

It seemed to get a great reaction as people don’t tend to wear separates to a wedding often. I styled it with a simple black bodice from Wolford & gold accessories. This skirt was the perfect statement piece for the ultimate chic look and it was also ideal for all the dancing that followed.

Coast have transformed their brand over the past few seasons, offering lots of amazing separates at very accessible prices. This skirt was a steal at only €145 and one that I will definitely wear time and time again.

Shoes

I actually don’t think I realised how much of a shoe fetish I had until I was dissecting my wardrobe for this piece. I have multiples of everything from ankle boots and sandals, runners to midi-heels and everything in between. I definitely like the cool comfortable vibe but I also like special detail when it comes to footwear so I have ankle boots and midi heels galore in all styles and colours. They go perfectly with summer dresses, obligatory skinny denims, skirts, shorts etc. I would hate (or love) to see my shoe collection if I had the money to buy every single pair that I have my eye on for this summer!

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are a wardrobe staple for me all year round but coming into the summer I always tend to get a bit more adventurous with my day to day choices. I’ve had my classic Aviator & Wayfarer Ray Bans for years now and they are definitely my go to’s all year round but in the summer I like to invest in a more fun, trend driven pair that reflects the style of that season.

Last year, I bought a pair of reflector Oakley Frogskins which are perfect for wearing on the beach/by the pool on holidays and this summer I purchased a really cute pair of pink round crystal frames from Warehouse which will be perfect for the festival season ahead.

Jewellery

I don’t tend to wear a lot of jewellery but when I do like to wear one really staple piece be it a statement necklace, ring or watch.

I have a very special timeless Alexis Bittar ring that my friends got me for my birthday last year and it is has this mesmerizing glass center sculpted onto a beautiful rose gold tapered band…. a real show stopper piece that I only wear for very special occasions.

I also have an amazing statement necklace that I adore. My friend was on holidays in Hawaii and had seen it in a vintage store and bought it for me as it reminded her of me so that makes it all the more special to me now. My dad also recently bought me a gorgeous Swarovski ring that I haven’t taken off since the day he gave it to me.
