Trade Secrets – Sneak Peek Into A Stylish Wardrobe

Tara O' Connor is the latest lady on our style crush list.

Cathy Donohue

We’ve all had that moment where you see someone on the street and think, “Oh, I love her bag/top/skirt.”

With that in mind, we’re hoping to hunt down the country’s most stylish women to quiz them on their favourite fashion finds and style tips.

Next on our style crush list is Tara O’Connor, fashion PR for Stella & Dot and Lucy Nagle. Tara gave us the down-low on her style essentials below…

Winter Wear

I’m a winter girl when it comes to fashion. I spend most of my money on winter clothes and accessories as let’s face it, we mostly have winter weather in Ireland.

Each year, I invest in a really good coat. At the moment, I’m lusting after an Yves Salomon parka or a MSGM Coyote Collar Camel Coat from Browns in London.

I always invest in a coat each season. Last year, I bought a John Rocha pink coat and I know I will continue to wear it this season. I buy a number of key designer pieces each season, especially in winter as they see me through for years.

I adore tailored clothes and wouldn’t call myself a slave to fashion. In fact, I’ve tried to stop buying numerous pieces each month and instead I save and buy one or two keys pieces that I will have for ever.

For me, timeless classics are key and everyone should have a good coat, tailored trousers and lots of cashmere.

Designer Love

My favourite designers at the moment are John Rocha, Stella Jean and Simone Rocha. From the high street, I adore COS and Zara for everyday essentials and I am loving the new Karen Millen autumn winter range.

I work with Stella & Dot as an Independent Stylist and I just love accessories. Rose gold is a particular favourite at the moment.

Layering is one of my favourite ways to wear jewellery, bracelets, cuffs and also necklaces. I love statement necklaces they just transform an outfit especially cashmere which is my staple wardrobe.

Day to day, I wear jeans with cashmere knits and a statement necklace to dress it up. Lucy Nagle is my favourite cashmere designer. Her new colours and designs for autumn winter are perfect for everyday wear.

I also love Irish designers KDK. They are a real treat and I was lucky to get one for my birthday. It’s like a blanket around your neck.

Favourite Find

My favourite item in my wardrobe at the moment is a Temperley London skirt I bought for my friend’s wedding. I bought it on sale on Net a Porter and I adore it.

I adore high-waisted skirts as they hide my tummy, perfect after having my after two babies.

COS and Coast also do great skirts and I always buy a few each season. I recently bought some from Topshop Unique and they are amazing. The cut and the material is certainly unique and they look like they came straight from the runway.

I tend to wear skirts with cashmere polonecks for winter and a statement necklace off course.

Shoes….

I am a shoe fanatic and have hundreds of pairs stacked in boxes at home. I don’t buy as many heels as I used to because with two kids I run around all day. Flats are now my staple shoe footwear but when I go to meetings or out at night, I will always have a pair of heels on me.

However, I’m not really a bag person, I tend to buy a good bag and its lasts a few years. Zara and Stella & Dot bags are my favourite go-to places when looking for bags.
