The fashion bible has spoken

Dressing for a wedding can be difficult sometimes.

Is it OOT fancy? A little lowkey? Can I wear black? Is it a family wedding? Friend’s wedding? There are so many factors that go into it.

But now Vogue has come up with a few rules about dressing for weddings, and we have to agree with most of them.

From staying true to yourself to wearing a cardi for an extra bit of comfort, here are Vogue’s top ten tips for dressing for a wedding:

1. Stick to your personal style – there’s no point trying to go for a style your not comfortable with. Stay true to your own style or else you’ll just feel uncomfortable for the entire day.

2. Avoid wearing pale coloursVogue believes that wearing shades of white or pale colours will steal the bride’s thunder. And you don’t want to be that person.

3. Wear a niche brand – try go for a brand that’s out of the ordinary or an Irish designer to really stand out.

4. Avoid a fascinator – instead, Vogue suggest wearing a diamond hair clip, or something along those lines. Lowkey is best.

5. Don’t go matchy-matchy – don’t have your bag, shoes and coat all matching. It’s just way OTT.

6. Don’t wear fake tan – while we don’t 100 percent agree with this one, Vogue suggests staying natural for the day that’s in it.

7. Wear a cardigan for extra warmth – cardigans are no longer out, in face, they’re very much in. Take one with you in case you get chilly throughout the day.

8. Go for platforms or wedges – this way you’ll be able to stay on your feet all day long (and it won’t be too sore).

9. Ditch the clutch bag – it can be quite awkward to bring around with you and you’re only looking for it to be left behind in the venue.

10. Don’t be scared of wearing a dress twice – if you have a few weddings coming up around the same time, don’t worry about wearing the same dress. Just remember to be smart about accessorising.
