Walk Down the Aisle in a Table Cloth? One Bride Did, and it’s Gorgeous!

Remember when you wore a net curtain as a veil playing dress-up for your wedding day? Bet you didn't realise you were onto a new trend. Upstyling is the phrase of the day, as people take their scissors to their hemlines and recreate designs from recycled material. So what's the most impressive piece we've seen? Well step right up Alice Halliday, a West Cork designer who has created and tailored her friend's wedding dress... out of a tablecloth. What's more shocking? It's actually GORGEOUS. The West Cork designer created a Mexican inspired wedding dress for her friend Ana from a cotton tablecloth and matching napkins. Speaking on the design of the dress, Alice said: “Ana’s gown is made from 100% reclaimed pieces of vintage lace, including an intricate ivory tablecloth. Even the lining and zip were recycled. The bottom layer was even detachable so that she had a shorter dress for the evening". This isn't the first time Alice's designs have hit the headlines. The mother-of-one from Skibereen caught world-wide attention for a crystal encrusted cape she styled for lead indie singer Florence Welch. The cape, which she made from a £2 tablecloth she picked up in a UK charity shop, later featured in Florence and the Machine's 2010 world tour and was featured in Vogue magazine.
