The West Cork designer created a Mexican inspired wedding dress for her friend Ana from a cotton tablecloth and matching napkins. Speaking on the design of the dress, Alice said:
“Ana’s gown is made from 100% reclaimed pieces of vintage lace, including an intricate ivory tablecloth. Even the lining and zip were recycled. The bottom layer was even detachable so that she had a shorter dress for the evening".
This isn't the first time Alice's designs have hit the headlines. The mother-of-one from Skibereen caught world-wide attention for a crystal encrusted cape she styled for lead indie singer Florence Welch. The cape, which she made from a £2 tablecloth she picked up in a UK charity shop, later featured in Florence and the Machine's 2010 world tour and was featured in Vogue magazine.
Fancy owning an exclusive piece for your special day? The designer's wedding gowns start from just €700, but must be ordered at least 7 months in advance.
Halliday's Spring Summer 2014 capsule collection is now showing at Atelier 27 located on the 1st floor of Om Diva, at 27 Drury Street, Dublin 2.
