Wearing High Heels Could Mean You End Up With This Grim Foot Issue

EW.

Pump bump.

There’s another foot ailment related to high heels and the name alone is enough to put us off.

We know all about blisters and bunions and put up with them on a regular basis but ‘pump bump’ could prove a tad more troublesome.

It’s a relatively new phenomenon and so Byrdie spoke to Dr. Mark J. Landsman of Manhattan Foot and Ankle Care to get a little background information.

Landsman explained that you can identify pump bump as an inflammation at the back of the heel, which is scientifically known as Haglund’s Deformity.

We can’t give up wearing these beauties though…

If your shoe, and high heels are the worst culprits, rubs up against your foot this can lead to painful, red inflammation.

He also said that some people are born with Haglund’s but if you avoid shoes that cause inflammation, you shouldn’t have pain.

If high heels are a must for you and pump bump is a real issue, the health professional also said that you can alleviate the pain by using heel pads.

Sometimes, it’s just one type of shoe that causes makes matters worse and if that’s the cause, you’ll want to avoid it.

If you really can’t face giving up high heels completely (that’s us), then Landsman says that cutting back on how often you wear them should help.
