Women have almost three times as many knickers as they did in 1999 according to the findings of a new study.
The poll, conducted by laundry specialist Dr Beckman, found that women own on average 34 pairs of knickers. Compared to an average of 12 pairs back in 1999, that’s quite a jump.
And it’s no surprise that the recent interest surrounding such novels as Fifty Shades of Grey has been held responsible for the rise in figures.
In fact 61 per cent, of the 2,000 women asked, admitted the saucy book had encouraged them to buy fancier underwear.
It was also revealed that the typical drawer contains 20 pairs of knickers for everyday use and 14 pairs for special occasions.
We're just wondering how big that drawer has to be exactly in order to hold all of that underwear!
