What To Wear – Packing For Summer Holidays

The maxi dress is a holiday essential!

Cathy Donohue

Holiday packing can be a little stressful at times as you struggle to decide what to bring for a week in the sun.

This can be even more difficult when you’re planning a longer break: maybe you’re going for two weeks or a month long trip to another continent such as visiting friends who have moved to Australia.

With that in mind, we hope to take the stress away and put the fun back into your holiday preparation.

We have put together a capsule wardrobe: pretty sundresses, casual separates, stylish maxi dresses and comfortable flats will form the basis of your holiday style.

Sunglasses and a chic but roomy bag are essential accessories: the straw tote featured is large enough to carry your beach kit while the printed round sunglasses featured are a style steal at only €2.

White is brilliant for holidays as it looks great with a tan or even a faint hint of colour depending on how long you’re going for. The white tee-shirt Dorothy Perkins top and pretty scalloped vest from Penneys are versatile pieces that can be matched with skirts, printed trousers or shorts.

Flat tan sandals are a great buy as they go with practically everything and they won’t break the bank either, priced at €27.95 from Parfois.

A statement necklace will always change your look from zero to hero in seconds. Daisy print is huge this season and this sparkly piece from River Island is a brilliant buy, especially because you can wear it all year round unlike summer clothes.
