YES! This is the ‘new jean shape’ and we are here for it

'new jean shape'

Tell us more.

We’re always on the lookout for new jeans and now that we’re over the skinny fit, we’re pretty excited to learn that there’s a ‘new jean shape’ for 2018.

According to the fashion gods at Net-A-Porter, there’s one jean style that’s a ‘gamechanger’ for this fashion season.

The ‘baggy but tapered fit’ was spotted at a number of SS18 designer shows including Monse and Alexander Wang.

They’re often distressed too so the more rips and fades the better and this is one trend we’re feeling this summer.

The luxury retailer recommends styling these jeans with a ‘silk camisole, an evening jacket and heels’ for night time and this is one outfit we can’t wait to wear.

We’re also thinking a tailored blazer and/or statement jacket would be fab with this trend.

Who What Wear points out that this trend was also big in the 90s and as it’s quite a look in itself, you’ll want to keep the rest of your outfit relatively simple.

If you do plan on wearing with heels, opt for a cropped style which will add a dressy touch to your outfit.

We have a feeling this is going to be our new favourite look for when we want to wear jeans but dress up at the same time.

This Monse pair has been singled out as the perfect take on the trend but given that they’re priced at €723, we’re going to search for a similar pair on the high street instead.

Thankfully, you’ll usually find lots of designer lookalikes on the high-street after they’ve been showcased on the catwalk and we have a feeling we’re going to see a lot more of these jeans.
