The change we’ve all been waiting for has come to Instagram Stories

Laura Holland

FINALLY!

Instagram is slowly but surely becoming just as good, if not better, than Snapchat. And their latest update is sure to push them out in front.

They’ve just added animated filters to their Instagram Stories. Facebook were the last people to follow Snapchat’s lead on animation within the photo side of the app and now they’re rolling it across to their sister company.

Speaking about the new update, Instagram has said:

“We’re introducing face filters in the camera, an easy way to turn an ordinary selfie into something fun and entertaining. Whether you’re sitting on the couch at home or you’re out and about, you can use face filters to express yourself and have playful conversations with friends.”

They have eight initial face filters which include animal themes, math equations and different types of crowns.

To access the filters you have to open the camera, tap on the new face icon in the bottom right corner and off you go. Some phones are slower to receive the update so it might not be there for you just yet. You also must have the iOS version 10.21.

Not only that, you can now also add stickers to your photos which allow clickable Hashtags.

Another brilliant new feature is the eraser option. You can take a picture, give it a full-colour filter and wipe away parts of it to display certain parts of the underneath image.

These updates are available as part of Instagram version 10.21 for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play.
