“St Patrick’s Day is one of the biggest national holiday celebrations across the globe and naturally is one of the busiest days on Twitter for Irish-related posts with over 1.5 million St Patrick’s Day related Tweets in 2017 a 290% increase on 2016. "We want to encourage everyone across the world to join the St. Patrick’s Day conversation on Twitter so we’ve added eight new languages to trigger the emoji. Happy St Patrick’s Day.”It comes as it was announced that more than 300 stadiums, statues, museums and towers are set to turn green on Saturday. The fountains in London’s Trafalgar Square, Chimo the Polar Bear statue in Ontario and the San Mamés stadium in Bilbao – the home of Athletic Club Bilbao - will make the switch for St Patrick's Day for the first time. And, for the first time since 2014, the Sydney Opera House will be turning green as well.
