Here’s what Ireland’s top Google searches were this year

Megan Roantree

It’s been an eventful year.

2016 will certainly be one to remember. From politics to celebrities to sports, it’ll certainly make for an interesting episode of Reeling in the Years.

Every year, Google puts together lists of the most popular searches of certain topics by region.

The Goggle trends provide an interesting insight into how people think and what they’re interested in.

For Ireland, Euro 2016 was the most popular Goggle search of 2016.

Given Ireland’s popularity over in France during the summer it’s no surprise this was what people were most interested in.

In second place, was the initially massively popular Pokémon GO. It’s hard to believe the obsession with the app was only this year and that it died down so quickly.

The third most popular search was in tune with the tragic year of celebrity deaths we’ve had, with David Bowie after his passing in  January, Prince also made the list at number seven.
