Oh Christmas Tree, o Christmas Tree. How lovely are thy….Tweets?

We’ve seen our fair share of amazing trees this Christmas. From wine Christmas trees to amazing Harry Potter ones. But we think this one might take the biscuit. And the best bit is it’s for a great cause too.

If you’ve been in Dublin the last few weeks you may have noticed that a very special tree has taken up residence just above the SPAR in Ranelagh Triangle.

But this is no ordinary tree, this is the most techy tree that Dublin has ever seen. This is SPAR’s innovative ‘Twitter Christmas Tree’.

The mammoth tree has a total of 1,600 bulbs that will be powered by…wait for it… tweets. Yes, really!

Every time someone tweets using the hashtag #UnderTheTree, another light on the tree comes to life. How cool is that?

And that’s not even the best part because once the festive tree is completely lit up SPAR will make a donation for each tweet received to the National Children’s Hospital, their official charity partners.

So, if you’re out and about in Dublin doing your Christmas shopping then it’s definitely worth heading along to take a snap of it and don’t forget to tweet using #UnderTheTree.

If you can’t make it to Dublin before Christmas, don’t worry because SPAR also have an online tree that they are hoping to light up too. You can keep an eye on it here.

Your tweet could make a huge difference to a child in hospital this Christmas.

Simply tweet #underthetree to light up SPAR’s giant Twitter Christmas Tree and raise money for the National Children’s Hospital.
