Samsung has advised anyone with the Note 7 phone to switch it off immediately. This follows a series of incidents which saw the Samsung phones burst into flames. Most of the time it was happening when people had their phone plugged in to charge but more recently it’s happened when phones were not being charged.

One such incident occurred on a plane and resulted in an emergency evacuation after smoke filled the carriage. Since then the company has halted production and is investigating what is triggering the fires.

According to CNN, Samsung released a statement to “ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note 7.

They also want, “Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note 7 or replacement Galaxy Note 7 device should power down and stop using the device.”

Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairman Elliot F. Kaye said Samsung made “the right move”, adding, “No one should have to be concerned their phone will endanger them, their family or their property.”
