Your smartphone could be about to get a whole lot creepier

The way we interact with our phones is set to change in a big way.

Handheld devices are always advancing.

We’ve seen it through additions (or reductions) to the iPhone 8, fingerprint authentication in Androids, and new features across the board that we could have only ever dreamed of when we were busy playing Snake on our Blokias back in the day.

But there’s one new advancement look set to feature in many new smartphones soon, and it sounds a little too creepy for our liking.

According to the South China Morning Post, the next generation of smartphones won’t just have a regular old personal assistant, but they are likely to include Artificial Intelligence (AI).

This means that instead of simply offering suggestions or using the internet to find the answers to questions given by the user, the AI device will actually be able to copy human intelligence levels.

Say hello to the ‘Superphone,’ – it’s not creepy at all, and it’s a lot smarter than Siri.

This kind of device is already available in China.

The Huawei Honor Magic phone was released in 2016 and goes so far as to give users suggestions based on the conversations they are having via text.

It also knows what apps its user like to use at what times during the day, and will suggest those apps at specific times.

As Ben Sin said in Forbes magazine, the “phone is aware of where it is, and what it’s about to be asked to do.”

There’s already rumours circulating that the iPhone 8 could include its own AI chip that will allow the phone to act on the user’s behalf, as opposed to alongside the user.

Potentially sounds a bit spooky, but if anything can help boost that battery life, it’s probably worth it.
