When you spend all your time learning about a certain area, becoming an expert on the topic it can be very frustrating when someone undermines it.
This is what happened to an associate professor of Computer Science when she sent out a tweet about Java.

Another Twitter user replied to her message, without considering the fact that she might know what she’s talking about. Especially considering that she has her profession in her bio. He advised her to ‘learn it’, and added a winky face.

People quickly pointed out that his tweet came across sexist and patronising.
The professor later replied explaining that she knows it and teaches it.

She received plenty of support from other twitter users telling her she ‘nailed it’ with her reply and sharing their own stories of being a woman in certain careers.
