This innocent cat picture could get you banned from Facebook

Be careful what you share.

Sometimes it can seem like the internet is basically just 90% cat images and videos. People are constantly sharing cute footage of their own cats as well as memes of funny felines.

However, you may want to be careful what you share as a seemingly innocent photo recently resulted in several people being banned from Facebook.

This cat in a suit has genuinely been causing a lot of trouble for Facebook users who shared the image to their profiles.

One man shared his experience with Mashable. Tech Blogger Varun Krishnan claims after the image was shared, he was locked out of his account.

“It might sound stupid but this just happened to me. I was chatting with friends, got one cat image on WhatsApp, it was so cute that I sent it to a friend.”

Just seconds after sharing the picture, Varun was signed out of Facebook and Messenger on all devices.

“Before I realized, my devices were getting logged off. Even on PC, Messenger notified me that my Facebook account has been disabled. My photos, my Facebook Ads account, they wiped my presence off Facebook in a matter of seconds for a cat photo.” He said.

All that for just a cat picture!

Several other people reported the same issue and said that within minutes of sharing it, they were cut off from their accounts.

When Varun got in touch with Facebook they re-allowed him on the site without explanation.

“Our team found this was a mistake & have restored your account. We’re sorry for the trouble this caused you.”

While it may have just been a glitch it is unusual that it happened to so many people.

So be careful what you share online, even if it seems ridiculously innocent.
