Unsending drunken texts is about to get a whole lot easier

Jade Hayden

Finally.

We’ve all been there – you’ve got some lad you fancy a normal amount, you’ve had a good bit to drink, you’re on the Nitelink home and you decide that sending him a dodgy text would be the best idea in the world.

As we all know, it would not be the best idea in the world but there is absolutely no telling yourself when you’ve had eight cans of Druids and too many G&Ts with elderflower tonic to count (a lethal mix if we ever saw one).

A few months back, WhatsApp did us all a massive favour though and introduced a feature allowing users to unsend a text within 7 minutes of it being sent.

That meant that if you said something stupid to some lad you’re into, or misspelt a word, or simply wanted to take back whatever it was you happened to have typed, you could.

As long as it was within 7 minutes, that was.

Now though, the Facebook-owned app has decided to extend that unsending time and we are eternally grateful.

According to WABetaInfo, users will soon be given over an hour to unsend a risky message – a whole 4,096 seconds, if you want to be exact.

This will work in the same way as a regular unsending of a message – simply hold down the message, hit delete, and the text will appear as ‘this message has been deleted’ to anyone who sees it.

Super handy.
