Bad news! WhatsApp will stop working on certain phones from TOMORROW
Lads, you better check the kind of hardware you have on that phone of yours!
As of tomorrow, anyone using a Windows phone will no longer be able to use WhatsApp.
Also be aware that from February 1, some older Android and Apple iPhones will also be hit by this WhatsApp block.
Not great, is it?
In fact, anyone with an Android phone running anything older than version 2.3.7 will no longer be able to use the app and the same goes for iPhones with iOS 7 or older installed.
In a statement on their official site, Microsoft has said that:
"WhatsApp will no longer be supported on Windows Phone after December 31, 2019. You can continue using WhatsApp on Android, iOS or KaiOS devices."
Speaking about the choice to no longer allow the use of the App on older hardware, WhatsApp said in a blog post:
"As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use."
"While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don't offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app's features in the future. This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp."
