Katie O’Dwyer, Associate Director, TS/MS Downstream
“When the news about Lilly coming to Limerick opened up, it was just too tempting to not apply. There’s something particularly exciting about being there from the early days.
“The possibilities seem to be endless here. And I think if people want to grow in so many different ways, it’s not just about going up the ladder, but it’s growing in your knowledge and your experience. There’s just so much you can do with Lilly as a company that I think haven’t been obviously available at the previous companies I’ve worked for.
“There's definitely a culture here that enables me to strike that really nice work life balance. The expectations are clear and reasonable, and the support, and just how people work together here really helps that. I think that they’re trusting you to deliver and trust in your intentions do a good day of work.”
Paula Espinoza Soto, Principal Engineer
“In Process Engineering, it’s pretty much 50/50 split between men and women. There’s a lot of different perspectives there. In my team, there are people from the US. There are people from India. I’m from Venezuela. There’s a lot of different cultures within the team and I think that’s nice, because we all bring something different We always try to foster a safe space. I’ve never felt that I cannot speak up or, if we have issues within the team, we always try to resolve them. Lilly has a very good teamwork culture.
“One very important thing – which shocked me when I started - is they actually believed in me. I was a new graduate, and I’m a perfectionist, I doubted myself, but I always had a team of people and supervisors who believed in me and my work. It’s very good to have that kind of validation when you’re starting.
“And I think with that, when you feel appreciated, you start to accelerate your own performance. And when you show that to other people, you get results. I think for me, being promoted so quickly in my career was a good opportunity for me to say ‘Okay, I’m doing a great job, and I have to kind of keep going for it.'”
Sinead E. Milner, Senior Director QA
“I started my career with Lilly in 2012 in Lilly Kinsale and decided a greenfield project was my next move for my career, so my family and I moved to Limerick, the best move we ever made.
“One of the reasons I was attracted to Limerick is I love simplifying processes. I love automation and digitization and knowing that processes are smart. I had worked in existing sites, and it can be hard because processes are running. Here, I get the opportunity to really think about the design of the facility from the very start.
“The team that I’m building here is very diverse. I have different nationalities; I have new to career. I have late career. I have a huge, huge range of experiences and all this blends together. We have someone who travelled from Singapore to join the Lilly Limerick team. That range of cultures and diverse perspectives will build the Limerick we want it to be, which is one that is digitally enabled, has the best business processes that we can have and with the best culture that we can develop.
“To those thinking of applying, come with your mind open. Apply for the job that interests you, but don’t limit yourself, because the opportunities when you get into the company, they widen up. You can have three or four careers at Lilly within Lilly, by understanding what your strengths are, understanding what your weaknesses are, understanding what you love. What we pride ourselves on is matching the right person with the right role.”
