Katy Perry has been a bit…dark lately, hasn’t she? Well, we can’t say we blame her given the fact that her divorce was finalised last week and her ex-husband continues to make a few…eh…remarks about their relationship.
The Irish Sun reports that the usually perky singer has revealed that her next album will be much “darker” than Teenage Dream. Does this mean that the days of Katy’s Technicolor dress sense/personality are over? Will she no longer look like a rainbow has vomited on her?
We’re kind of disappointed. We don’t know about you, but we like our pop peppy and our Katy Perry with a side order of multi-coloured awesomeness.

Katy has said that she wants her third album to unveil personal secrets about her to her fans. It seems that Katy is in a bit of a confessional mood these days, because she recently released Katy Perry: Party of Me – an in-depth documentary that follows the singer around on tour and shows the eventual breakdown of her marriage to Russell Brand.
So what will her new album be like? Will she pull a Taylor Swift and write a revenge song about her ex?
“I’d never devote a whole record to heartbreak,” Katy said.
While a heartbreak album would probably be super-intriguing (especially if it had a track that completely dissed Russell) it’s nice to see that Katy is above that. But then again, a heartbreak album did work for Adele.
Either way, we hope that the “darker” Katy Perry doesn’t completely do away with the bright one that we’ve come to love.
