It feels like getting cosmetic work is as common as getting your haircut, and we're growing more and more concerned about how normalised it has become.
It feels like something we should all get done now, and that expectation is only being enhanced by Hollywood. Luckily, some celebrities are slowly speaking out about the unachievable beauty standards placed on women, and one of them is Billie Eilish.
The singer recently opened up about the pressure to remain youthful and to get cosmetic procedures done, but she stressed that this isn't something she wants.
Speaking on the Good Hang With Amy Poehler podcast, she shared: “I am so excited to age, and I’m so excited for my face to age and my body to age and not change it, you know? And I want my kids to look at me and have my face look like their face and not be some botched version of whatever the fuck is going on out there right now."
In 2021, the singer told The Guardian that it's fine if people want to get work done, but so many celebrities are lying about it.
"It’s completely fine to get work done—do this, do that, do what makes you feel happy. It’s just when you deny it and say, ‘Oh, I got this all on my own, and if you just tried harder, you could get it.’ That makes me literally furious."
“It is so bad for young women—and boys, too—to see that," she added.
It is so rare to hear a celebrity as big as the Birds of a Feather singer speak out about the importance of staying true to yourself, and not letting the outrageous beauty standards placed on society weigh you down.
Billie Eilish's attitude is not only refreshing but so vital in a society where we're all expected to remain frozen in time by filling our faces with filler and Botox.
