Maura Higgins is rumoured to host the reboot of this iconic dating show

Maura Higgins is reportedly in "advanced talks" to host the upcoming reboot of Blind Date.

Blind Date first launched on ITV and aired from 1985 until 2003. The series was previously hosted by the late Cilla Black, who passed away back in 2015.

A TV insider told The Sun that the Love Island star is rumoured to take over as the official Blind Date host.

"Discussions are at an advanced stage, with the show’s producers convinced Maura’s the perfect choice for the job," the insider said.

"Not only did she shoot to fame on a TV dating contest, but she is now an internationally famous face, which is what a global service like Disney needs for one of their shows."

"Maura also has an unquestionable glamour combined with cheeky charm, which has echoes of Blind Date’s most famous host," they added.

The news of the dating show's return to TV was first announced earlier this week. Producers took to social media to announce that "Blind Date is back" and share the official casting call.

The show will be filmed abroad in a "beautiful location" towards the end of 2026.

Show executives were reportedly looking for a host that will be suitable for planned 'modern twists' to the show. This would include the old format, which saw contestants choose one of three potential suitors hidden behind a wall.

The show will be available to stream on Disney+ and will be "reimagined for a new era of modern love."

Producers describe the upcoming series as one "all about genuine connections, emotional chemistry and people who are truly ready to find something real."

Maura Higgins has not yet responded to these rumours.
