An Irish scientist is joining The Chase as the newest Chaser. Darragh Ennis will become the sixth member of the Chasers team alongside the likes of Anne Hegarty and Mark Labbett in an upcoming series of the popular ITV show. Darragh, who studied at NUI Maynooth and is now a post-doctoral researcher at Oxford University, London, first appear on The Chase as a contestant in 2017. His stint on the gameshow quickly went viral after he managed to bring back £9,000 for his team only to have them completely shaft him by taking minus figures, eventually reducing the prize fund by £2,700. It wasn't long before the #JusticeForDarragh hashtag was trending on Twitter and a GoFundMe page was set up in his honour. Now though, it appears as though Darragh won't need any handouts because he'll be making bank as an actual Chaser. He announced the news on his own Twitter this week saying: "I'm really excited to be the 6th chaser on #TheChase. "I've been working hard on this for a while now and can't wait for my episodes to air. Well the ones I win anyway." Darragh is the sixth Chaser to be introduced to the show since it first began in 2009. He will be joining fellow Chasers and daytime TV icons Anne Hegarty, Mark Labbett, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Shaun Wallace. Darragh's episodes of The Chase are due to air later this year.
