We love a throwback.

Matte lips have been the order of the day for makeup lovers for a couple of years now but the tide might be starting to turn; for brides-to-be at least.

It’s probably got something to do with Kylie Jenner and the boom in nineties-inspired looks but we’ve all been big on matte finish lipsticks and liquid lipsticks.

You might think that a bride would opt for a no-budge lip on her big day but according to Pinterest, many want something different this year.

The site says that lipgloss is making a comeback for wedding day beauty.

Searches for bridal makeup looks with lipgloss are up 459 per cent on last year, reports InStyle.

Rather than lashing on tonnes of gloss like we did as teens in the nougties, though, we reckon we’re likely to see a more subtle, dewy lip look on brides in 2018.

A wedding day glow and big eyes are also a priority for brides – searches for long-lash looks and a ‘barely-there sheen’ on skin are up as well.

Lipstick is still a popular choice for weddings, though, with Pinterest also recently revealing that brides are going for dramatic lips over classic nudes.

Searches for berry lipsticks for brides are up by 71 per cent on the site over the past year.
