Wait, what?!
When it comes to storing make-up, I tend to keep the products used on a day to day basis in my make-up bag.
That’s usually the norm but according to cosmetic chemist Ni'Kita Wilson, foundation should actually be stored in the fridge.
It sounds a bit bonkers but the reasoning behind it is that when liquid foundation is refrigerated, it has a much longer shelf life.
Speaking to Refinery 29, Ni’Kita said that when testing a refrigerated foundation against a non-refrigerated one, she found that the one kept in the fridge was “slower to react”.
This basically means that it lasted much longer.
However, if you’re not a morning person and going to the fridge for make-up is too much effort, storing in a make-up bag in a drawer is the next best thing.
Keeping it out of sunlight and in a dark place stops it from “breaking down prematurely” and making sure the container is sealed is essential.
