Apparently This Kitchen Cupboard Spice Works Brilliantly To Cover Under-Eye Circles

The science behind it makes a whole lot of sense!

A great way to literally spice up your makeup routine.

Undereye circles are one of the most frustrating skin issues, as they are notoriously difficult to get rid of/cover up.

However, one beauty blogger has gone viral after suggesting that adding turmeric to your beauty booty will go a long way towards conquering those pesky bags.

Farah Dhukai maintains that whether your dark circles are genetic, or due to lack of sleep, the spice works wonders to eliminate that purple colour.

Before you panic and envision yourself smelling like curry all day, the turmeric isn’t used in the same way that concealor is.

Dhukai makes a paste with buttermilk and turmeric, leaves it to dry and then rinses it off.

The science bit

Dr. Lisa Donofrio, Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Yale University School of Medicine explained to Good Housekeeping:

“Turmeric temporarily stains the skin yellow, which is an optical neutralizer for the color purple, just as green is for red.”

However, Dr. Christine Choi Kim warns that putting a spice so close to your eyes can be dangerous, and a patch test should always be carried out in order to assure you’re not allergic.

She says:  “Apply a little on the inside surface of your forearm, then wait a full two days to see if you have any allergic reaction.”
