Brushing your hair after showering is a really bad idea

Note to self.

Cathy Donohue

Oops.

After washing my hair, the first thing I do is brush it through before applying lotions and potions in an attempt to transform my thick, unruly locks.

However, this might be doing more harm that I thought as it can speed up the split end process – hair mare.

It makes sense as hair is weakest when wet so pulling a brush through it is only going to cause breakage.

Spotted on Hello Giggles, a good alternative is to use a wide-toothed comb instead and start from the ends, using short strokes.

NO more brushing…

I don’t know about you but I always brush my hair from the parting downwards so this is a completely new technique top get on board with.

Another good idea is to pat your locks with a towel instead of rubbing as this is only going to increase friction and static – not exactly the makings of a good hair day.

If you’re someone who showers in the morning, you probably have more than enough to remember but in saying that, these tips will help in the long run.

If like me you’ve committed this cardinal beauty sin, this should help to reinforce good hair habits from here on in.
