Celebrity manicurist reveals the worst thing people do to their nails

If you're guilty, for the love of God stop.

Guilty.

Shellac and gel nails have proved revolutionary in the beauty world as you can now get a manicure and it lasts for a couple of weeks without worrying about chipping or fading.

There’s always been a misconception that getting treatments like these can be detrimental for your nails but that’s not the case.

The real damage is done when said manicure isn’t removed properly. In other words, you’ve peeled it off.

I have to admit I’ve done this before and my nails, which are already very weak, took weeks to repair properly.

When speaking to Racked , celebrity manicurist Britney Tokyo, who has worked with Rita Ora and Kylie Jenner, explained why.

“By peeling off, the original nails can get severely damaged, and very thin. Having nails done are not bad for your nails, but incorrectly removing them can lead to damage”.

Either, return and have them professionally removed or buy an acetone remover specially designed for taking off your gel manicure.

Having heard this tip from a celebrity manicurist and having witnessed the damage my own nails suffered, I won’t be letting it happen again.
