Five chocolate-inspired beauty products to indulge in this Easter

Cathy Donohue

Easter

Easter weekend is upon us although as we all know, it’s difficult to distinguish between the days at the moment.

However, it is tradition to feast on chocolate eggs and sweet treats at Easter and bonus, this provides a momentary distraction from the global pandemic that is Covid-19.

That said, there’s been a lot of baking and sugary goodness over the last few weeks so if you’re over eating chocolate, sweet-themed beauty products might be up your street.

There’s more chocolate-inspired beauty buys available than you might think and they all sound equally delicious, particularly the cacao coffee scrub we’ve just discovered.

Here are our current favourite, their names alone are guaranteed to have you feeling peckish…

Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner in Chocolate Truffle, €25

Chocolate truffle is always a taste sensation and this eyeliner mimics the delightfully rich shade of our favourite sweet treat. The retractable pencil promises 12-hour wear and is formulated to resist water, sweat and humidity ensuring your eye makeup stays in place for the day. Our favourite part though is the fact that it features a built-in sharpener, no more scrambling to try and find one at the very bottom of your makeup bag.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette, €47

An eyeshadow palette infused with 100 percent natural cocoa powder. This product is chocolate scented and includes 16 shades of “natural browns, delicate pinks and luscious plums”. There are both matte and shimmer textures and the pigment is impressive, offering an impressive colour pay-off.

The shades have perfectly inspired names such as Glided Ganache, Triple Fudge and Salted Carmel – a pretty good gift for the chocolate lover in your life.

Frank Body Cacao Coffee Scrub, €21

As the packaging reads, “imagine a world where you shower yourself in chocolate” – a vibe we are very much into!

This antioxidant-rich blend of cacao, coffee and natural oils exfoliates and soothes, resulting in an all-over healthy glow. It eliminates any dry patches and deeply hydrates leaving you with baby soft skin. The organic cacao extract nourishes and hydrates skin, plus it smells glorious too.

Clinique All About Shadow Quad in Pink Chocolate, €34.95

This mini eyeshadow palette is all about adding depth and definition to your eye makeup, achieved by the contrasting shades of muted pinks and browns. The Pink Chocolate quad is described as crease and fade-resistant – exactly what you want in an eyeshadow.

Wear the lighter shade alone for an easy daytime look but layering the lighter brown with the deep chocolate would be gorgeous for an evening look. Use the pink for highlighting the inner corners of your eye and you have the perfect contrast of depth and light.

Cocoa Brown Chocolate Whip Oil-Free Body Moisturiser, €5.95

A body cream scented with Tahitian Gardenia and Cocoa, swoon. The Vitamin E-enriched formula is ideal for use as an all-over moisturiser but it also has a couple of other benefits including longer wear from fake tan. If you use this in the days after application, it’ll help your tan last longer and ensure it wears off evenly. Putting it on your elbows, knees and indeed any dry areas before tanning will also provide for a streak-free finish. For €6, it’s a true beauty bargain.
