Getting highlights for summer? Take note.

Blonde gals and their hair – truly the most beautiful and toxic of relationships.

Like any bad boyfriend, dyeing your hair blonde will break your heart and leave you out of pocket but will always make you come back for more.

We’re now coming into the season when lots of folks will be considering lightening their hair, be it with some subtle balayage or a full head of meche.

There’s plenty to know before you take the plunge but one clever piece of advice that we’ve never heard before is to make sure that your blonde colour will have the same balance of warm, cool and neutral tones as your skin.

Beverly Hills colourist Matt Rez’s rota of clients includes everyone from Ashley Benson to Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes.

He says that your complexion’s different tones need to match those of your hair.

“Our hair colour needs to reflect that, especially if we are going lighter so I always make sure there is a mirrored equal balance of those tones in my clients’ hair colour in order to be a flattering colour change.”

Something to discuss with your hairdresser, then.
