He told Refinery 29 that Beyoncé was keen to look "young, fresh and like she wasn't trying too hard" - and that her look was inspired by a college girl being on campus.
Sir John also shared the products that he used to create Bey's iridescent eye look - and, as it turns out, a €14 mascara played a huge part in finishing it off.
He started out the look with a mixture of "a few different glitters", including beginning with a terracotta base, a glittery purple and then glitter in the middle of the eye.

He also explained the trick to making makeup really last - and it turns out it's all about layering.
He continued:
"It's basically like keeping your makeup on through two hours of cardio. "Layering is the key, so you want to use a liquid foundation, then set it with bronzer; a cream blush, then set it with powder blush; eyeliner, then set it with shadow. "No matter what part of the face, it has a double application."
