Wavy, unruly hair that’s neither curly or straight.
It can be tough to manage this hair type particularly when you’re trying to straighten it and those bumps at the back won’t budge.
However, there is one advantage to wavy hair and that’s the fact that it is ideal for the 'ecaille' trend which just so happens to be one of the biggest looks this year.
Ecaille, or, tortoisehell, is all about multi-dimensional hues which are particularly gorgeous if your locks are 'brond', which translates to a somewhere in-between blond and brown.
Jack Howard, spoke to
Refinery 29 about the trend and described it as “ombre’s moodier sister”.
“Think of tortoiseshell and all the colors that come in it: golden blondes, chestnuts, mahogany, chocolate, honey, and all those lovely, warm tones” continued Howard.
As Howard points out, ombre hair can feel “solid” and like blocks of colour and this new take on the idea breaks it up a little.
