Exclusive: Ekin-Su reveals her Love Island beauty secrets

Clodagh McKeon

Love Island star Ekin-Su visited Ireland last month to celebrate the success of her TikTok viral collection with globetrotting Irish makeup giant, BPerfect Cosmetics.

During her trip, she stopped off in Belfast, Dublin, Wexford and of course LIME-rick – wink wink. We caught up with the makeup guru to find out what her all-time favourite products are and what she couldn’t leave the house without .

We also needed to know how she keeps her skin looking so flawless.

Although Ekin looks red-carpet-ready almost all of the time, she said her makeup and skincare routines are very quick and easy.

“My skincare is really simple. I wash my face in the morning, after my coffee obviously I have to have that. Then I use a toner and I might exfoliate maybe once a week. I’ll use a moisturiser every day and a factor 50 that’s an absolute must because I’m 30 soon.

“The sooner you start using SPF, the better. I’ll use an eye cream at night but that’s really all I use. I don’t actually use much.”

Talk about packing lightly

Ekin also revealed that she doesn’t bring too much makeup on holidays with her. It may come as a shock to most of us but apparently, you can pack lightly. Ekin said her three holy grail products come from her bPerfect Cosmetics collection – the bPerfect Radiant Glow Skin Perfector, the Ekin-Su X bPerfect Fearless Face and Eye Palette and the bPerfect Half Lash Collection.

On her recent holiday to the Maldives, Ekin only brought a handful of products and those were the essentials – along with her favourite mascara which is the bPerfect Lashout Mascara.

She said: “I literally only brought those with me on holiday. You know what I love about this mascara? It’s light and you can easily take it off. Most mascaras are really hard when you use a makeup remover, it stains. But, with the bPerfect one in a few wipes, it comes off.”

The reality TV star also revealed that she was the quickest girl in the villa to get ready every evening. She said it took her around 30 minutes to do her makeup.

“I’m not going to lie, in the villa it took me half an hour, max. That was hair as well. Whereas everyone else took 2.5 hours. Once you know your face, you can achieve a great look and do it quickly. Especially because I don’t use that many products. Less is more.”

“Less is more”

You would think that the secret behind Ekin-Su’s glowing complexion would be weekly high-end luxury facials but she admitted she “hardly ever gets treatments”. The former islander was so candid about her previous makeup mishaps and said one of her major regrets was using the Dream Matt Mouse when she was younger.

Dark orange-coloured face, white pale neck – we’ve all been there.

She laughed and said: “I remember I used that all the time when I was younger so yeah, major regret-ments. I think going with what was in fashion rather than going with what actually suited me is a beauty regret of mine.”

Like many other celebrities, Ekin is now embracing her natural beauty and said her go-to now is looking beautiful naturally.

As she said, less is more.

Like fellow Love Island star, Molly-Mae who dissolved her face filler to become more natural looking, Ekin encourages everyone to embrace their natural face and wear as little makeup as possible.
