During winter, dry skin can be a major bugbear and we tend to reach for the moisturiser in a bid to combat peeling and flaking.

Even though this is a standard step with most beauty routines, one expert believes it could have a detrimental effect.

it might be good for your skin but brow guru Sania Vucetaj, says that moisturisers, gels, sunscreens and foundations could cause brow hair to fall out and prevent future growth.

Speaking to Pop Sugar, she said: “We tend to treat the brows as skin, but they’re actually hair follicles, and if we wouldn’t put something on our scalp, why would we put it on our brows?

“Clients who are careful to avoid any lotions have noticed tremendous growth — it just takes patience!”

While eyebrows similar to the model featured in the above photo are the dream, it can be difficult to obtain this look.
