There are a million little ways your dad becomes your greatest hero. Every lady (rightly) thinks hers is the best, but it’s safe to assume that we’re all in agreement – little Izzy Wickherst has one in a million.
Greg Wickherst from Colorado spends much of his time as a single dad to Izzy, after splitting from her mother one year ago. Though he manages most facets of parenting with the same combination of stress and joy as most mums and dads, Greg felt at a loss when it came to getting his little girl ready to face the world.
Having shaved his head all his adult life, Greg didn’t have the first idea what to do with Izzy’s hair – struggling to manage even a ponytail.
Not one to take a challenge lying down, and determined that his little girl would always get the hairstyle she desired, the doting dad turned to his workmates at the IntelliTec College, which boasts a cosmetology department. Greg works at the college as an admissions representative.
Last year Greg asked the students in the department to help him out. He told The Huffington Post: “In no time, I was able to do a simple braid, then a fishbone braid, and a French braid. I learned how to do a ponytail, then flip it through itself either under or over. I call that an inverted ponytail.”
Less than 12 months later Greg is quite the hair whizz, sharing his creations on Facebook in a series of adorable snaps of Izzy, who is soon to turn three years old.
